The Story
Set in 1938, Smoke the Mountain is an entertaining musical that tells the story of the first ever Saturday Night Gospel Sing at a small Smokey Mountain country church. Featuring two dozen rousing bluegrass & folk songs, Pastor Mervin Oglethrope has enlisted the Sanders Family to bring his congregation into the modern world.  Between songs, each family member witnesses, telling a story about an important event in their life.  Some are touching, some are downright funny.  One thing after another goes awry and reveals their true (and hilariously imperfect) natures.  By the end of the evening, the audience loves the Sander's Family.
